Kasargod district has the largest number of Kovid-19 patients in Kerala.

Kasaragod district was the most worried district during the second phase of Kovid outbreak in Kerala. It was also where most patients were confirmed.

But now Kasargod has become one of the most curated districts in the state with the highest number of patients treated for Kovid-19. Kasaragod, on Sunday, became Kovid-free district as the last patient check-up was negative.

So far, only 178 patients have been diagnosed with Kovid in the district. Of these, 108 were from abroad and 70 were in contact with the disease. 43 patients were treated in Kasaragod District Hospital, 89 in General Hospital and 24 in Kasaragod Medical College. Along with this, 20 patients were treated at Pariyaram Medical College and two at Kozhikode Medical College.

With this, hospitals in the district have been strengthened to provide Covid treatment and prevention. Since March 12, the government has launched Covide Help Desks in non-governmental hospitals, collecting information from foreigners and adopting preventive measures. Help desks and screening camps were started at the district boundaries and railway stations from March 15. Brake Chain The Campaign was strongly implemented.

Since March 17, the district has reported daily cases of corruption. Then Covid Cell was expanded by providing tele-counseling and 5 help desks. Kasargod General Hospital was converted into Kovid Hospital.

According to the government, within four days the administrative block of the medical college was set up as a 200-bed Kovid hospital with state-of-the-art facilities. There are 273 posts created and recruited for the Medical College. Medical team of Trivandrum Medical College, Kottayam Medical College Team and Alappuzha Medical College team ensured the treatment services.

The community kitchen has been set up by local bodies to provide food to the public at the grassroots level and also provided food kits to those in need. Various activities were organized to ensure the well-being of the guest workers and to ensure that they were not infected.

Due to excellent preventive measures and treatment services, the number of cases decreased and more people were being discharged in the district by April 4. The Department of Health initiated a Home Visit Survey to understand the social outreach and initiated measures to send people with the disease to the test.

The district has allocated Rs 75 lakh from the state disaster management fund and Rs 3.95 crore from the Kovid package. In addition, Rs 7 crore has been allotted for transforming Kasaragod Medical College into a state-of-the-art hospital.

With the announcement of lock-down concessions in the border areas on May 3, elaborate arrangements have been made at Thalapady and Kalikkadavu to screen people coming from various states and districts. The 24-hour medical team works in these screening camps.
